Bill Johnson called out charismatic Christians for often neglecting biblical meditation. His remarks came during a 2010 video recently posted by Bethel’s official YouTube account.
In the video, Johnson says, “One of the weak links in most of what I’ve been exposed to in charismatic Christianity—which many people use that in a derogatory sense, [but] for me it’s nothing but warm, fuzzy feelings. But one of the weaknesses in the way we do life—at least for many—is the absence of biblical meditation. Which is what takes knowledge [and] brings it into a person’s life until it is not just something I intentionally ponder, it has become a source out of which I think and live and move. It becomes internalized until it becomes me and I become it.
“Biblical meditation is not the emptying of the mind. It is not getting rid of all these things and sitting there in the midst of nothingness. God says, ‘Here, dwell on this.'”
