The year 2013 marks momentous occasions for both The Friends of Israel Gospel Ministry and the state of Israel. It has been 75 years since the start of The Friends of Israel Gospel Ministry’sservice to the Jewish people, and 65 years since the territory gained statehood in 1948. The Friends of Israel Gospel Ministry will celebrate both milestones this year.
“We are thankful to God that He has enabled us to serve our Jewish friends uninterrupted for the past 75 years, while they themselves thank God for 65 years of being able to return to the land that the Lord gave them,” said Jim Showers, president and executive director of The Friends of Israel Gospel Ministry. “We praise God for His eternal protection for His Chosen people, and for His caring for our ministry as we offer Biblical truth and point people to the saving grace of the Messiah.”
In 1938, The Friends of Israel Gospel Ministry began in Philadelphia to aid beleaguered European Jewish people who sought escape from the extreme persecution they faced in the days leading up to World War II. Today, the ministry has grown to become a worldwide Christian organization that is educating people about God’s plan for the Israel and the Messiah.
“God has touched so many lives throughout our 75 years of ministry,” Showers said. “I am excited to think about the marvelous work God will do in the years ahead through our remarkable, tireless staff.”
The Friends of Israel Gospel Ministry has a variety of plans for celebrations honoring its 75th anniversary, including a congratulatory dinner, a commemorative video depicting their 75 years of ministry, and other special resources that are being developed to honor God’s faithfulness to the ministry during its 75 years of ministry and service to the Jewish people and the land of Israel.
