Following the March for Israel rally and the initiation of the Weekend of Prayer for Zion’s Sake, the Congressional Allies Caucus (CAC) has introduced a resolution advocating a national weekend of prayer for the people of Israel.
Led by Reps. Doug Lamborn (R-CO), Brad Schneider (D-IL) and Chris Smith (R-NJ), the resolution condemns the “unprovoked, premeditated and barbaric attack by the Iran-backed terrorist group Hamas.” The attack resulted in the brutal slaughter of 1,400 Israelis, with over 240 Israelis and foreign nationals taken hostage into Gaza by Hamas.
Speaking on behalf of the Congressional Allies Caucus, Rep. Doug Lamborn emphasized the bipartisan unity in the call for Americans to pray for the people of Israel and the safe return of all hostages. Lamborn expressed gratitude for the Americans participating in prayer for Israel in synagogues, churches and places of worship across the nation during the designated weekend.
Rep. Brad Schneider, lead co-sponsor and co-chair of the Congressional Israel Allies Caucus (CIAC), echoed the sentiment, stating, “I believe this is a critical time for people of faith to come together and pray for the State of Israel and the Jewish people.” Schneider proudly co-sponsored the bipartisan resolution, encouraging a nationwide weekend of prayer and reflection. He emphasized Congress’ commitment to act on Israel’s behalf, providing aid and diplomatic support to combat the terrorist group Hamas and create conditions for Israelis and Palestinians to coexist in peace.
In response to the CIAC’s announcement, the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem (ICEJ) issued a global call to parliaments and legislative bodies worldwide to emulate the U.S. example by declaring their own National Weekend of Prayer.
The American Christian Leaders for Israel (ACLI) extended congratulations to steering committee member Jordanna McMillan, U.S. Director of the Israel Allies Foundation (IAF), for spearheading the resolution’s introduction before Congress adjourns for the Thanksgiving holiday. As Psalm 133 declares, “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity…For there, the Lord commanded the blessing.”
