Anti-Semitism, which is systemic hatred, persecution and violence against the Jews, not only happened in the past, but it is also on the rise today, here in America and around the world. It’s not only an attack against innocent Jewish people; it’s an attack against God.
Anti-Semitism began long ago with Pharaoh’s genocide of newborn Israelite boys. It showed up when Balak and Balaam planned to curse Israel, when Haman planned to wipe out the Jewish people, when the Crusades raged, when the Inquisition’s oppression surged and when Hitler and the Nazis devised the Holocaust.
Anti-Semitism is not about people but about the spirit that drives people to seek the destruction of the Jewish people. It’s the spirit of Amalek, and it continues to infiltrate nations, organizations and even the church. Every Christian should agree that we have a biblical responsibility to stand against anti-Semitism. It’s anything but Christlike.
Here are two things you can do:
1. Refuse to be silent as it says in Isaiah 62:1. Remember that anti-Semitism is Christianity’s original sin. For example, when you hear someone say, “The Jews killed Jesus,” bring them the truth in love. Show misinformed people why it’s unfair and illogical to blame all Jewish people for what a few corrupt leaders and the Roman Empire did 2,000 years ago.
2. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem as it says in Psalm 122:6. It’s a key to becoming a peacemaker between Christians and Jews, and it will activate the promise from Jesus that peacemakers are blessed (Matt. 5:9). Then be a blessing to Israel by supporting charities like ours that stand with Israel. God will definitely bless you in return (Gen. 12:3).
You can find out more about God’s love for Israel and why it’s important to stand with the nation in my latest book Seven Living Prophecies. I know firsthand that when you play your part, you will see God’s blessing and favor increase.
