God’s Supernatural Healing Words for Your Spirit

“For you have not received the spirit of slavery again to fear. But you have received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, ‘Abba, Father.’ The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirits that we are the children of God” (Rom. 8:15-16).

Kathryn Kuhlman, a notable healing evangelist of the 20th century, said there is something far greater than the healing of sick bodies. The far greater miracle is the regeneration of your spirit by the Holy Spirit. In her words:

Jesus said, “You must be born again.” It is not optional. He’ll never force salvation on you. You come to Him because you want to come. … The Scripture says, “Him that cometh to Me I will in no wise cast out” (John 6:37, KJV). … There is no touch in the universe like the touch of His nail-scarred hand. All who touch Him are made whole. All who touch Him discover that salvation, healing, deliverance and power are in His touch. The Master’s touch makes all things new.

In the early years of his Christian life, Watchman Nee, a popular Chinese theologian, came to see that man is composed of three parts: spirit, soul and body. He understood that the soul is the personality of the man, the body is the outward part of man for contacting the physical world and the spirit is the inmost part of man for contacting the spiritual world. Believers are regenerated by the Spirit of God in their spirit (Rom. 8:16), and they become one spirit with the Lord (1 Cor. 6:17). That power of regeneration brings healing and wholeness to your inner man—your spirit.

Usually, we do not readily think of ourselves as a “spiritual being” made in the image of God, as the book of Genesis teaches (Gen. 1:26-27). Nor do we discuss the condition of our soul often in conversations pertaining to our need of healing. We may unwittingly describe our distress of soul and spirit, however, when we refer to emotional pain or mental anguish we are suffering.

Fear, depression, anger, stress and other common maladies of the soul (mind, emotions, volition) also affect our spirit man as well as our bodies. Yet God offers His peace to our entire being: spirit, soul and body. Jesus said to His disciples, shortly before His death:

“Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (John 14:27, MEV).

To enjoy the peace of God does not mean we will never have trouble, sorrow or conflicts in life. In spite of circumstances, we have the divine promise that we can receive the gift of God’s peace. Enjoying the peace of God is subsequent to our making peace with God: “Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” (Rom. 5:1).

Isaiah prophesied the names that would characterize the Messiah: “And his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace” (Is. 9:6b). All that we need to live in divine peace after we have accepted Christ as our Savior is found in His name: Prince of Peace.

The Bible teaches that “God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and truth” (John 4:24). Because we are made in His image, we must connect with Him through our spirit, our inner man. As you may know, after mankind disobeyed God in the Garden of Eden, our spiritual connection to God was broken. That is what Christ’s redemptive work on Calvary is all about.

He came to “heal” us through the new birth, to restore eternal life to our spirits when we accept His forgiveness for our sin and acknowledge Him as our Savior and Lord.

Redemption through Christ was not God’s Plan B; however. He was not surprised by the choices mankind made in the garden. Scripture declares that Jesus is the “the Lamb who was slain” (Rev. 13:8). Such love cannot be fathomed by our finite minds, that God would create mankind, knowing they would reject Him and require that His only begotten Son suffer incomprehensibly to redeem them.

Discover Destiny in the Master’s Touch

So do you know why you were created? For what purpose? Fulfilling God’s destiny for your life begins with spiritually reconnecting to God, who is Spirit. That is perhaps the greatest miracle of divine healing available to mankind—from death to life, from damnation to eternal blessing, from a place of exile to intimate fellowship in God’s family as His very own child.

As you yield to the Holy Spirit and learn to obey His will for your life, you will be strengthened in your inner man—your spirit. Out of your regenerated spirit, Jesus promised that rivers of life would flow (John 7:38). Destiny, purpose and the supernatural power of God’s love reside in your spirit. His healing power will flow to your mind and body out of that divine life that resides within your spirit. And it will flow to other lives you touch, bringing glory to God in all you do.

Prayers for Your Healing

May Christ grant me out of the rich treasury of His glory to be strengthened and reinforced with mighty power in the inner man by the Holy Spirit, as Ephesians 3:16 says. Please, Lord, help me to yield to the Holy Spirit’s work in my heart so that Your “rivers of life” will flow out of my life. Let me be an instrument in Your hands to bring Your life-giving words to others.

Lord, I am trusting You and saying, “You are my God! My times are in Your hand” (from Ps. 31:14-15). {eoa}
