President Donald Trump has once again blended faith with politics, this time through a campaign fundraising email sent under the subject line, “I want to try and get to Heaven.”

The email asked supporters for $15 contributions during what it called a “24-HOUR TRUMP FUNDRAISING BLITZ” and framed his political journey as a divine mission. “Last year I came millimeters from death when that bullet pierced through my skin,” Trump wrote. “I certainly wasn’t supposed to survive an assassin’s bullet, but by the grace of the almighty God, I did. SO NOW, I have no other choice but to answer the Call to Duty, but I can’t do it alone.”

Trump has also spoken openly about his concerns for eternity. Appearing on Fox & Friends in August, he said, “I want to try and get to heaven if possible. I’m hearing I’m not doing well. I’m really at the bottom of the totem pole.”
Supporters and staff may see such language as symbolic, but the truth is too important to leave unclear. If Trump is serious about heaven, he must also be serious about Jesus. The Bible says salvation is found only in Christ, not in politics, achievements, or survival against the odds. Jesus declared, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6).

Trump believes he has been spared for a purpose, and many Christians agree God is using him in the fight for America’s future. But as believers rally to his side, they also have a duty to point him toward the deeper reality that only faith in Jesus writes a name in the Lamb’s Book of Life.
