For weeks now people have been wondering whether or not if the rapture of the Christian church is set to take place on Sept. 23. This craze took off on social media, particularly on TikTok. However, this is not to be trusted as Scripture is clear about the dangers of date-setting.
According to the Daily Mail, viral videos on YouTube and TikTok are gaining thousands of views about strange occurrences people are claiming they have had involving the numbers “923” and that church leaders have even pointed to the Feast of Trumpets as a potential time for the biblical prophecies to be fulfilled.

However, there are plenty of other, biblically based Christian leaders who are leading the charge against date-setting and urging believers to continue staying on the straight and narrow path. As the Daily Mail pointed out, Pastor Vlad Savchuk pointed out that the Antichrist is still be revealed, and that picking a date and a time for the rapture “directly [contradicts] Jesus’ word.”

Prophetic voice Jonathan Cahn also noted that many people are using astrological signs to interpret the 23 of September as the date of the rapture, which is directly against the Word of God.
The concept of the Sept. 23 rapture grabbed lots of traction when South African pastor Joshua Mhlakela publicly stated that Jesus told him in a vision that he would come back in the middle of the Feast of Trumpets.
Christians must remember that Jesus Himself declared, “No one knows the day or the hour” (Matt. 24:36). To tie the rapture to a specific date not only misleads believers but also distracts from the true call of the gospel: to live faithfully, watchfully and ready at all times.

Instead of being swept away by sensational claims on TikTok or YouTube, we must keep our eyes fixed on Christ, grounded in the Word of God and led by the Holy Spirit. Let this serve as a sober reminder: the Church’s hope is not in guessing dates, but in standing firm until the day Jesus truly returns in glory.
