We just may be in the age of avatars.
As reported by Hollywood Inc., the new film “Ramayana” is getting ready to hit crowds especially in India that draws audiences in a two-part film that focuses on the varying texts of Hinduism and its many gods. So far, the productions are believed to cost each $200 million and $250 million each.
The goal of “Ramayana” is to reach far and wide beyond Hindus, but to people around the world. Executive Namit Malhotra even said, “It’s a global film from the day we start…I’m not trying to make it to appease Indian people in India…”

Yet this is not the only film coming out that speaks to this concept of Avatars. In December, Avatar: Fire and Ash, the third film in the “Avatar” franchise is set to come out, with the original still charting as the highest grossing film of all time. This film franchise also looks deeply into pagan beliefs as well.

It almost appears as though avatars have taken over the film industry to seep into the hearts and minds of people everywhere. These films, reaching audiences far beyond their religious or national origins, are more than entertainment—they reflect a spiritual undercurrent shaping minds worldwide.
Jonathan Cahn, in his new book “The Avatar,” warns that these cultural phenomena are not merely coincidental. He draws parallels between the rising fascination with avatars and biblical warnings about false gods and deceptive spiritual forces. In the Bible, humanity is consistently called to recognize the one true God and to beware of substituting created images for the Creator.
Avatars, Cahn argues, are modern symbols of this ancient deception: they seduce the imagination, glorify spiritual powers apart from God, and blur the lines between truth and fantasy. He warns that these ancient entities, once thought to be relegated to myth, are reasserting their influence through cultural movements, political ideologies, and even digital media.

In light of this, believers are called to exercise discernment, recognizing the spiritual implications behind cultural trends. The Bible warns against the worship of false gods and the allure of idols, and Cahn’s insights serve as a contemporary reminder of these ancient admonitions.
The age of avatars is upon us, and with it comes a choice: to embrace the ancient lies or to stand firm in the truth of God’s Word. The decision we make will not only shape our spiritual lives but will echo into eternity.
