After news of Rep. Steve Scalise’s shooting tore through Capitol Hill, many politicians and government workers turned their ears and mouths to heaven.
Among them was Senate Chaplain Barry Black, who offered a prayer on behalf of Congress. As politicians stood with heads bowed and eyes closed, Black humbly offered these words:
“Our gracious Father, our shield and defense, we look to You in these challenging times. Lord, the shooting at the Congressional baseball practice reminds us of the importance of numbering our days. … “
