If your mind is racing with worry or potential solutions to your problems, just clear your mind and give it all to God, says prophetic minister Kathy DeGraw. You’re not God—so give it all to Him, and see if He has any guidance to give you. If anything, He will give you the peace, strength and wisdom to move forward.
“You’re trying to figure out your 2020; you’re trying to figure out your next year,” DeGraw says, “and God is saying, ‘I hold you in the palm of my hands. I have it figured out. You don’t have to figure it out. All you have to do is trust.’ And we all have a level of trust, but we all have places [where] we can’t trust.”
We’re really busy trying to go, go, go, but what God wants from us is to just be still—to just sit in His presence, DeGraw says on the Greenelines podcast on the Charisma Podcast Network. How often do we skip our time with the Lord because we’re busy with work and family, or we’re tired? But if we don’t make our quiet times with God a consistent discipline, we’ll miss out on being filled up with His love—reminded of His love—in His presence.
“Just wake up every morning, and sit in solitude for five to 10 minutes,” DeGraw says. “Don’t pray, don’t put on your worship music yet. Just say, ‘Holy Spirit, I’m available to you. Father God, I’m here to listen to what you want to say to me. Jesus, I love you,’ and just wait and listen and allow the Holy Spirit to orchestrate your day.
” … If we totally allow the Holy Spirit to direct our lives, before we get out of bed, in solitude, in prayer in the presence of God, what are we going to ooze out? We’re going to ooze out the love of God.”
Being in the presence of God helps us overcome our temptations, our shame and our feelings of unworthiness. For more encouragement in your personal relationship with Jesus, listen to the entire episode here.
