Pastor Rick Warren told CBN News that President Obama is “dead wrong” on enforcing his health care mandate.
The mandate requires organizations to make contraception available in their health insurance plans even if it’s against their religious beliefs.
Warren spoke with CBN News’s David Brody on this week’s The Brody File program. He said he told Obama directly of his opposition to the requirement.
“I clearly told the president I 100 percent disagree with him, and I actually said I would fight him on this issue of religious liberty, because he’s dead wrong on it,” Warren said.
“The most important freedom in America, is the first freedom. And the first freedom is religious liberty. America was founded by people who came here for that freedom; not anything else, but for the freedom of religion,” he continued. “It is the first sentence, the first phrase of the first sentence of the first amendment to the Constitution of the United States, the right to free exercise of religion.”
Warren gave the invocation at President Obama’s inauguration four years ago. You can see more of Brody’s interview with Pastor Warren on The Brody File Friday at 9:30 a.m. on the ABC Family Channel.
