Kanye West is taking action for his antisemitic statements and music.

West, who previously released the song “Heil Hitler,” met up with Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto, according to Yeshiva World News. During this meeting, the two held hands as West apologized for his actions.

“I feel really blessed to be able to sit here with you today and just take accountability,” West said. “I was dealing with some various issues, dealing with bipolar also.”

West claimed that his bipolar disorder would “take the ideas I had and have me taking them to the extreme.” He said that when this would happen, his ultimate sight on the protection and wellbeing of those around him would go to the wayside.

“So, I wanted to come and take accountability…sometimes people aren’t that knowledgeable about the bipolar and the cause or what causes it and the way you act when you have this disease.

Likening his poor actions to a parent cleaning up the messes that their child made in the house, West pointed out that he is trying to pick up the chaos he got himself into.

“It’s a big deal for me as a man to come and take accountability for all the things that I’ve said, and I really just appreciate you embracing me with open arms and allowing me to make amends, and this is the beginning and the first steps and the first brick-by-brick to build back the strong walls.”

Ultimately, Rabbi Pinto decided to accept Kanye’s apology.

“The Judaism brought to the world a way for someone when he regret[s] about something that he has done,” Pinto said through an interpreter. “And the Jews live on this way of if someone did something wrong you can regret and fix it.”

Pinto and West then finished their meeting with a hug between the two, symbolizing acceptance and forgiveness.

Kanye West’s meeting with Rabbi Pinto marks a first step for him toward accountability and reconciliation. Pray for West to continue to get back on the right track with both God and His people.
