Over the weekend, the WannaCry “ransomware” computer virus began infecting computers in more than 150 countries, crippling government agencies, factories and health care services.
It’s a sign that we’re already in the end times, Jim Bakker told Charisma Media founder Steve Strang in a podcast interview Monday. He said he received a word from the Lord at Rick Joyner’s prophetic conference on New Year’s Eve 1999, in which 31 different events were prophesied to come—among them the 9/11 attacks on New York City and Washington, D.C.
“In that 31 things that He gave me in the night for that event, they’ve all come true, except a couple,” Bakker said. “One of them was that there would be great computer confusion—warfare like we’ve never seen before with computers.”
Bakker said he had no idea what this “warfare” God was telling him about would be. Ransomware attacks like WannaCry only first emerged in 2005; the worm-style virus exploits a weakness in the Microsoft XP operating system, locking access to users’ files until a $300 “ransom” is paid in the digital currency Bitcoin.
“Almost every news story says it’s the biggest attack of its kind ever recorded,” Bakker said. “The headline that is amazing today on one of the news sources is ‘World War Web.'”
Strang noted that as of Monday morning, more than 150 countries around the world had been affected by the WannaCry virus, which is the vast majority of the nations on the earth. Bakker also pointed out that it’s capable of shutting down whole countries and has been affecting hospitals.
Bakker said he interviewed U.S. Army Lt. Gen. Jerry Boykin (ret.), who said the world is already involved in World War III, which won’t be fought with conventional weapons but with computers and satellites. He said the general told him of one concern that North Korea was developing a satellite capable of launching an electromagnetic pulse attack that could disable the entire U.S. electrical grid.
“The church needs to wake up that there is a war,” Bakker said. “I believe we’re in the warfare right now. I believe Revelation 6:2 is now.”
Revelation 6:2 states: “And I looked, and there before me was a white horse. He who sat on it had a bow. And a crown was given to him, and he went forth conquering that he might overcome.”
Another manifestation of this warfare, being conducted by the Antichrist spirit, is seen in the war being waged against President Donald Trump. Bakker said he’s never seen a president targeted with such hatred in the media.
“We are in such a time as never before, but the church is silent,” he said. “The church has got to wake back up again, because we’re seeing things happen like never before.”
According to Microsoft President and Chief Legal Officer Brad Smith, WannaCry is a variant of a computer code developed by the National Security Agency that was used as part of its cyber-warfare against other countries. It was leaked, however, as part of a document dump on the Dark Web last year.
“The thing that I don’t think the church realizes is that we’re living in the Book of Revelation,” Bakker said. “One of the headlines today is ‘Putin Blames the United States of America.'”
He went on to say that Democrats’ pushing the narrative that there was collusion between the president’s campaign and the Russian government is creating a divided America that cannot stand. He repeated his desire that churches and pastors would stand up and speak out about the war that is already underway.
Bakker said that following the spirit of Antichrist, the second horseman will carry the sword that inflicts its opponents with great fear. Revelation 6:3-4 states: “When He opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, ‘Come and see.’ Then another horse that was red went forth. Power was given to him who sat on it to take peace from the earth, causing people to kill one another. Then a great sword was given to him.”
Bakker said this is clearly seen happening in the Middle East with all of the violence caused by ISIS. This leads into another of the events the Lord shared with him back in 1999 that has yet to happen.
“One of the 31 things God spoke to me on this special time several years ago was that there would be a great bomb—atomic bomb—coming,” he said. “I believe that next could be the second horse, the red horse—these four horses of the Apocalypse—are the last days…”
He added, “America is in deep, deep trouble if we don’t turn to God and to wake up. This computer infection—this computer virus—is called WannaCry. The church needs to cry out to God. This is so serious, it’s going to make the whole world want to cry.”
