Islamic State militants will “transform America into a Muslim province,” their latest video alleges.
“This is the fate of anyone who opposes Islam. Know, oh Obama, that we will reach America,” a fighter says in the video, according to a translation by the Middle East Muslim Research Institute. “Know also that we will cut off your head in the White House and transform America into a Muslim province. … Know that we are men who fear no one. We will institute the laws of Allah, may he be exalted and praised.”
The terrorist group issued threats to other Western nations, including France and Belgium.
Yahoo! Finance reports the video is a response to ISIS setbacks in the last week, including defeats by Kurdish forces in Syria and Iraqi airstrikes.
According to the Business Insider, though, despite recent defeats, ISIS holds a significant amount of territory, as well as several international hostages they are holding for attempted negotiations for prisoner trades.
News reports speculate Japanese hostage Kenji Goto is still alive, though many are not sure for how much longer.
