Addiction is a slippery slope. And, believe it or not, it’s something we all go through. Whether it’s something as simple as over-eating, social media, chronic social hiding, television or something much more dramatic like alcoholism, drugs, violence or self-hurt, it’s a global pandemic that no one can wear a mask to prevent. And it all has the same root: shame.
Yes, our inability to be able to live completely in the light that Jesus created for us is to—again—join Adam and Eve by covering ourselves with whatever we find the most comforting—and all of this is to hide our imperfections from the God who made us, the God who has already forgiven us. The God who holds no stones when everyone else’s hands of condemnation are full of them.
