How Paula White’s Third Husband Got Born Again

Paula White Cain with husband Jonathan Cain.

Jonathan Cain, longtime keyboardist for the rock band Journey, celebrated his renewed walk with Christ with a Christian album.

Titled What God Wants to Hear, Cain’s latest project was written as an offering to the Lord.

“This is a small way of giving back what the Lord has given me over the years,” he explained. “As a result of the Lord blessing me and blessing Journey, this is my offering back to him.”

Cain spoke with CBN News about the inspiration behind the album.

“It has been a recharging from the Holy Spirit in my heart. … I am so excited about it,” Cain said.

He went on to say he was baptized in Ghana, Africa, and that his wife, televangelist Paula White, led him back to Christ.

But Cain said his belief in God started long before his marriage to White. As a child, Cain wanted to be a priest. But his faith struggled after his grade school suffered a devastating fire in which 92 students and three nuns were killed.

He then turned to a life of music, performing with his band Journey. The group shot to fame in the 1980s with memorable hits, like “Open Arms” and “Don’t Stop Believin’,” which was co-written by Cain.

But he says God was planting small seeds along the way. Cain recalled a 1996 recording session with Journey in which front man Steve Perry brought a Bible to the studio. He said he remembers that he wasn’t quite there in his faith, but he wanted to be.

Finally, after a series of failures, both personally and professionally, Cain said he cried out to God for help. He says he found healing and love in White. They were married in 2015.

White’s influence is felt throughout the new album. On the track, Remove Every Veil, the popular pastor delivers a powerful reading from Galatians 3.

Cain said the title of the album came from asking himself, “What does God want to hear from me?”
