Hillary Clinton Didn’t Just Double Down

Hillary Clinton

Last week, Hillary Clinton made waves with her statement that she did not believe unborn children had any constitutional rights, particularly the right to life.

Tuesday, while appearing on ABC’s The View, she not only doubled down on those comments, she took them a step farther, seemingly contradicting her own comments about the rights of the late-term unborn. Those comments will likely infuriate many evangelicals.

“At what point does someone have constitutional rights, and are you saying that a child, on its due date, just hours before delivery still has no constitutional rights?” co-host Paula Faris asked in reference to her controversial comments made on Sunday’s episode of NBC’s Meet the Press.

“Under the law that is the case,” she said. “I support Roe v. Wade, because it makes an important statement about the importance of a woman making this most difficult decision with consultation by whom she chooses, her doctor, her faith, her family. And under the law and under certainly that decision, that is the way we structure it.”

She then suggested the pro-life movement was attempting to “substitute government’s judgment for the woman’s.” The former secretary of state equated those efforts to forced sterilizations in China—saying she “abhorred” the practice—as well as the policy in Romania during its Communist occupation that required women to each bear five children.
