During a campaign rally Tuesday night in Milford, New Hampshire, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump got another endorsement that will likely help his surging poll numbers there.
Former U.S. Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.), once a darling of the GOP elite, joined Trump on stage to offer his endorsement. Saying he doesn’t take the process of endorsing another politician lightly, he said he decided to back Trump because he wants to support someone who has been a “change agent.”
The endorsement, however, isn’t going to put to rest concerns that Trump isn’t entirely concerned about issues that matter most to Christians. Brown lost his shine with many Christian conservatives due to his pro-abortion stance, which some experts suggest played a role in his failure to secure a full term after winning election in 2010 to fulfill the late Sen. Ted Kennedy’s uncompleted term.
While he appreciated the endorsement, Trump said he doesn’t necessarily agree with everything Brown stands for, a thinly veiled reference to Brown’s pro-abortion stance. And unlike other big-name endorsements Trump has received, this one didn’t result in a press release to media.
