There are so many competing voices in our society. These voices range from political to social justice to morale. While all these voices are not bad, they do vie for our attention. How can we remain Christ followers with our focus and eyes on Jesus among the noise that at times shouts at us? How can we live in the world but not of it?
The answer: We must remain on target for our purpose. What is our purpose? We were all created, called and anointed to accomplish making Christ known in the surroundings where God has placed us. My location might be different from yours, but both of our purposes remain the same. We are called to shine the light of Christ and be led by the Spirit. How can we thrive with passion and the fire of God? The answer is twofold: the gift of discernment and honing the voice God has given us—topics my two guests address on recent episodes of Make Life Matter on the Charisma Podcast Network.
First, we must discern the Spirit. Now is the time for believers to be tuned in so closely to what the Spirit is speaking and where the Spirit is leading. My guest on this episode of Make Life Matter, Tim Ferrara, aka Discerning Dad, shares steps to increase this ability. There are three methods you already know: the Bible, the Spirit within you and godly relationships. But we need to recognize the importance and vital necessity on how to utilize them more accurately.
Second, we need to allow our voice to penetrate the darkness and not just be an echo, as eternity hangs in the balance for some people. God has gifted us with a message, but trying to speak it like someone else only makes it powerless and increases our own insecurities. I had a discussion with Dr. Kisia on another episode of Make Life Matter, who helps us master our message and then speak it with the power and authority bestowed upon us. It’s time for your voice to be heard above the noise. {eoa}
