On a recent episode of The Eric Metaxas Show, author and commentator Dinesh D’Souza delivered a sobering assessment of what he sees as a troubling shift within conservative media—particularly regarding Israel and the Jewish people.

“I have to say it’s very hard for me to process that someone that I thought of as a good guy, Tucker Carlson, could have swerved so far off the road,” Metaxas said. “I try to process this. What is the explanation?”

D’Souza did not hesitate to acknowledge what he believes is a significant change.

“Number one, it is quite clear that Tucker and Candace are completely different people in terms of their beliefs than they were before,” D’Souza said. “You can see this in their almost singular obsession with Jews and with Israel. It looks like they are rearranging the rest of their belief system around this.”

He pointed to what he described as a noticeable reorientation in priorities and rhetoric, suggesting that former positions have been reassessed through a new lens.

“So radical Muslims used to be bad guys,” D’Souza said. “But now, since they’re against the Jews, they’re not so bad after all.”

Metaxas pressed further, asking what could explain such a dramatic shift. D’Souza responded that what stands out most is the lack of a clear explanation from those involved.

“It’s not your responsibility, Eric, or mine to figure it out,” D’Souza said. “It is Tucker’s responsibility to give the explanation.”

Metaxas did not hide his alarm at what he sees unfolding, calling some of the rhetoric “lunatic conspiracy theory” and expressing disbelief that discussions questioning Jewish identity have reentered mainstream discourse.

D’Souza agreed that such arguments carry a dark historical weight.

“This has a very sinister history,” he said, referencing how the Nazis once debated “who is a Jew” when implementing the Nuremberg Laws. “This kind of genetic dissection of what makes you a Jew… does have a pretty troubling history to put it mildly.”

At one point, Metaxas described the situation bluntly: “What you’re really describing is wickedness. This is a wicked thing.”

“Tucker has to be smart enough to know that this is causing a lot of disruption on the right and particularly among young people,” he said, warning that such rhetoric is “not good for the GOP. It’s not good for Trump. It’s not good for America.”

In a cultural moment marked by division and confusion fueled by media commentators like Tucker Carlson and Candace Owens, there is one important thing we must take away: clarity and truth still matter, and this is not the time to shrink back from defending them.
