Black Lives Matter is dominating our country’s attention due to looting, burning down buildings and killing our own. We are so consumed with police brutality and hoping for justice that we don’t see the way we are going about it is wrong.
This isn’t how we will solve the problems we are experiencing. Let me school you: It starts in the home.
I am tired of Dwayne Wade exploiting his son, Zion. We have black athletes like basketball player Dwayne Wade, who is a father, and I’m sure he thinks he’s a great dad, but I beg to differ.
You aren’t a great dad when you are turning your son into a girl. A great dad wouldn’t be turning his son, born a male named Zion, into a daughter who now would like to be called Zaya. And then would like to be addressed with pronouns “she” and “her” instead of “him” and “his.”
Instead of Mr. Wade wanting to teach Zion how to be a man, he has decided to transition him into a woman. This is a problem because when a child turns 21, he or she could change their mind about their gender, and then what? We are hearing about thousands of men and women who would like to detransition back to the gender God created them to be from their mother’s womb.
Zion is too young to make these kinds of decisions! Why do you think God gave you parents? Because children never see the big picture, parents are there to help them see the world more accurately. Zion’s feelings may be real, but they are not reliable. Jeremiah 17:9 instructs us on why our feelings can’t be trusted: “The heart is more deceitful than all things and desperately wicked; who can understand it?”
The No. 1 issue facing the Black community isn’t just racism, it’s father absence. It all starts with the breakdown of the family. We know that Dwayne Wade’s mother, JoLinda, was in prison, and he was raised by his biological father. Could this be the reason he chooses to help transition his son, because he was never taught how to be a father himself by his dad?
When his parents divorced, JoLinda was given custody of the two children. JoLinda struggled with drug addiction, and she was in and out of prison. At 8 years old, Wade’s sister Tragil, tricked her brother into thinking they were going to the movies, only to leave him to live with his father and stepmother. Wade visited his mother on occasion until his father moved the family to Robbins, Illinois, after which Wade would not see her for two years.
Most Black men never had a father at home to teach them about growing up in this society, how to be a man, how to be a husband or someday a father themselves. In Dwayne’s case, he is at home with his children but, is tragically teaching Zion how to be a woman when he was born a man. The first words in the room when a baby is born are still, “It’s a girl!” or “It’s a boy!” Gender is still binary because God still creates only male and female.
Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness, and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the livestock, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves on the earth” (Gen. 1:26-28).
Don’t you know kids’ minds are impressionable? Don’t you know there is no morning-after pill for regret?
There is so much backward thinking regarding homosexuality, but God addressed this in Isaiah 5:20: “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.” There is no magic switch to flip from homosexual to heterosexual, but when people invite God into their wounded life and receive healing in their souls, some can develop attractions to the opposite sex. I have personally seen this happen multiple times. The problem is, people are afraid to tell their stories because when they do, they aren’t believed or they get terrible backlash and persecution.
Too many of our children are being sexualized and, in the process, they are being groomed for pedophiles and sex trafficking. Transgenderism is normalized, and our children are taught that sexual identity is fluid instead of biologically based. Too many times they are being told they can be a boy today and a girl tomorrow. Our identity is who Gods says we are.
All of us exist because God wanted us and handcrafted each of us (Psalm 139:13-16).
When people flat-out reject biblical statements condemning homosexual behavior, they are playing into the enemy’s hand, and more importantly, they are rejecting God’s design. {eoa}
