Pastor Jack W. Hayford, pastor emeritus of The Church on the Way in Van Nuys, California, died Jan. 8, 2023, at age 88. He served as chancellor of The King’s University in Southlake, Texas, which he founded in 1996, and was president of the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel from 2004-2009. He also wrote over 50 books and composed more than 500 hymns and choruses, including the internationally known and widely recorded “Majesty.” But he was probably best-known as “Pastor Jack,” serving The Church on the Way for over three decades.

Born on June 25, 1934, the infant Hayford was gripped by a life-threatening illness and miraculously healed through the prayers of friends and family. Later, he was attacked by polio, and church elders anointed him and prayed for his healing. God granted another miracle.

“These two extraordinary events ignited in Jack’s heart a passion for God and convinced him that the Holy Spirit is alive and active in the contemporary church,” his ministry’s website says. “Contrary to our preconceptions, God is not economical with healings and miracles,” Hayford said. “Such wondrous works are frequently attending the proclamation of truth in Jesus’ name.”

Freeda M. Bowers, who with her husband, Claud, co-founded and built SuperChannel WACX-TV, died on Jan. 7, 2023, as the result of complications from needed surgery, her family announced.

WACX-TV, which the Bowerses founded in 1983, became one of the most powerful television stations in the Southeast United States and is ” dedicated to “providing the best in Inspirational and commercial television,” per its website. The station’s coverage now extends across Central and North Florida, from the Atlantic to the Gulf, reaching a population of more than 4 million, and also provides high-quality video streaming 24 hours a day.

I’m not a big TV fan. I’ve never watched “Game of Thrones” or “Stranger Things.” Last year when I looked at the list of 2022 Emmy Award winners, I realized I’d never seen any of the nominated shows. Aside from reruns of “Everybody Loves Raymond” (I own every episode), I pretty much surf for movies, football or news programs when I control the remote. All that changed when “The Chosen” began airing in 2019, thanks to donors who loved it after seeing the first episode. Now in its third season, the show is the most successful crowdfunded TV program in history. Viewers have given more than $50 million to support it.

And director Dallas Jenkins is just getting started. “The Chosen” is the only serialized dramatization of the life of Jesus ever produced. Jenkins said early on in his project that his goal is to get people to binge-watch the gospel. As of the end of 2022, 413 million viewers have already seen at least part of it—and we have four more seasons to go.

In an attempt to glorify God and establish that prophetic ministry is for today, Morningstar President Chris Reed shares recent prophetic words that have come to pass with date and time stamps to encourage the body of Christ.

“I think it’s important to acknowledge when prophecies we can prove when they were shared, when they were received ahead of time, come to pass,” Reed says.

We sat down with Reed for an exclusive Charisma News interview, and this is part-two of our conversation. In part-one, Reed shares what God has showed him for 2023 and beyond. You can read that full article here.

It’s been nearly 20 years since the “Passion of The Christ” was released in theatres and the impacts of the film were inconceivable. Now, Mel Gibson is embarking on another journey to begin filming “The Passion of the Christ: Resurrection.”Filming should begin around mid-2023 and World of Reel reports the new movie will focus on the events that occurred three days between Jesus crucifixion and resurrection. Actor Jim Caviezel, who played Jesus in the original movie is reportedly set to return to the sequel.

“The Passion” became the eighth highest-grossing domestic film of all-time making $612 million worldwide. Back in 2004, Barna released a study on the impacts of the movie in the Christian community. In their study 53% of people interviewed said the movie had a significant impact on their faith and walk with God.
