Brad Arnold, the lead singer of 3 Doors Down, passed away on Feb. 7, 2026, at the age of 47, after a battle with stage 4 clear cell renal cell carcinoma, a form of kidney cancer that had metastasized to his lungs.

In a post on Instagram, 3 Doors Down wrote:

With heavy hearts, we share the news that Brad Arnold, founder, lead singer, and songwriter of 3 Doors Down, passed away on Saturday, February 7th, at the age of 47.

With his beloved wife Jennifer and his family by his side, he passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, in his sleep after his courageous battle with cancer.

The band noted Arnold’s contribution to rock music, and how his songwriting was a “cultural touchstone for a generation…” He wrote the band’s breakout song, “Kryptonite” when he was 15 in math class. Since then, “his music reverberated far beyond the stage, creating moments of connection, joy, faith, and shared experiences that will live on long after the stages he performed on.”

They also shared that Arnold will be remembered for “…his warmth, humility, faith, and deep love for his family and friends.”

Scott Stapp of Creed discussed this dire loss and Brad Arnold’s faith in a post on Instagram. He wrote:

We’ve been weighted in thought as we grieve Brad’s passing. He wasn’t just a friend to us, he was family in Christ. His faith didn’t need to be announced, it quietly shaped who he was and how he lived.

There’s an emptiness now that he’s gone, we are seeking comfort in the hope that we shared. Brad is where he longed to be, fully restored, face to face with Jesus. I imagine him welcomed by heaven, surrounded by worship, finally stepping on the only stage that matters and we believed in so deeply, heaven…

Brad, thank you for your friendship, the journeys, the music, the late night talks, the laughter, and all the memories. You inspired millions all over the world. We are praying that peace and strength surround the Arnold family. We’ll see you again brother, and when we do, we’ll stand together in a song that never fades.

Prior to his death, Brad Arnold shared about his faith in Jesus despite his diagnosis, stating, “We serve a mighty God and He can overcome anything…So I have no fear. I really sincerely am not scared of it at all.”

During this time, pray for Brad Arnold’s family and friends as they deal with this grievous loss.
