If you like hard-rock praise and energetic worship that will blast you into heavenly oblivion, then Be is for you. Behind the project is the new Christian rock group Unhindered, composed of Ben Smith, Pat Barrett, J.R. Collins, Christian Paschall and Ashley Dasher. And from the sounds of their edgy style, the band’s new CD isn’t exactly your mother’s brand of worship.
“We want our music to bring people into an encounter with God,” Smith says. “One of our biggest obstacles to worship is believers who are self-conscious. We want to kick down that wall, so we get the whole crowd on their feet, jumping around.”
The CD reflects the group’s diverse style. “You Are My Creator” calls listeners into corporate worship, while “Who Is Like the Lord” opens with a commanding monologue that will elicit a response of surrender. And other cuts such as “No Other Name” and “Farewell Lullaby” remind listeners of God’s gracious love for mankind.
