Bill Johnson, senior pastor of Bethel
Church in Redding, Calif., is working to build a library of works and
documents of past revivalist leaders. He calls it “The House of
Generals.”
“One
of the calls that God has put on my life and really for all of us as
a church family is to honor the leaders of this present day but also
those in the past,” Johnson explains in a video on The Mandate
website, a division of Bethel Church. “And in doing so, one of the
practical ways that I felt we could do this would be to study and to
collect materials from past revivals and revivalists. And so, the
Lord has really directed us … to collect materials, a library and a
museum to honor revivals of the past.”
Johnson says he does not
want to move backwards, but says that the Lord has made it clear that
“if we will honor those
who have walked faithfully before the Lord in the past that in that
honor He will give us access to their anointing.
“We’re
looking to be able to raise a generation to walk in the fullness of
what God has called us to,” he continues. “And to do that, we
need to study. We need to research. We need to appreciate and
celebrate the victories of yesterday.
The
library includes works of Roberts Liardon and is growing “almost
daily,” Johnson says.
