The House You’re Building

Audrey Assad | Sparrow Records

This may be Audrey Assad’s album debut, but she’s already started making her musical mark. She’s toured with the likes of Chris Tomlin, Matt Maher and Tenth Avenue North. She joined Tomlin on the song “Winter Snow” from his album Glory in the Highest. You’ll also hear her crooning with Brandon Heath on the upcoming Jars of Clay Shelter album.

On The House You’re Building Assad’s light and airy voice (no operatic gymnastics here) delivers lyrics that are thoughtful yet not too heady. She draws inspiration from literature, poetry and, of course, life. Her debut album is about faith as well as “the cross and fear and pain and how God is carrying me even though sometimes it doesn’t feel like it,” she says. “The first reason I write songs is to preach to myself.”
