Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Ramin Mehmanparast, denounced the documentary film “Iranium” on Tuesday. He called film an attempt to harm the progress of Iran’s nuclear program.

Mehmanparast said the documentary “proves that certain Western countries are dismayed by [Iran’s] peaceful nuclear activities which are carried out in line with [defending its] inalienable rights,” and creates “an unreal atmosphere in order to apply pressure on our policies.” He added, “They should know that this path is wrong and the public opinion will not fall for such fabricated, unreal facts.”

Iranium documents the statements and actions of Iranian leaders since the Islamic Revolution of 1979, including the buildup of Iran’s nuclear program through the Presidential Elections of 2009.

“In the West, we use freedom of speech to change public opinion. We develop documentaries and software to achieve our goals,” says Alex Traiman, director of Iranium. “Iran’s leaders on the other hand, develop illegal nuclear weapons, sponsor terror around the world and brutalize their own citizens to achieve their goals.”

Narrated by Academy Award Nominee and Emmy Award Winning Iranian actress, Shohreh Aghdashloo, the 60-minute film uses rare footage from Iran and interviews with 25 politicians, Iranian dissidents, and leading experts on Middle East policy, terrorism, and nuclear proliferation.
