Nadia Sarin, a GFA-supported woman missionary, began visiting regularly with the family of a man named Gaurang after meeting them during a door-to-door ministry opportunity. She began patiently building a friendship with them and sharing the Good News about Jesus.
Hesitant to Change?Gaurang, a self-employed truck driver, was very committed to his traditional religion—as was his wife and three children. While they were becoming friends with Nadia, Gaurang and his family were not willing to accept her message of Christ’s love for them.
However, their hearts began to change when one of their daughters came down with both malaria and typhoid.
Even though Gaurang and his wife were unsure about Nadia’s God, they trusted her and asked her to pray for their daughter’s healing. In response, Nadia and some other missionaries gathered and interceded for the girl.
Miraculously, God answered their prayers, and Gaurang’s daughter was completely healed of these two diseases—either of which could have taken her life!
Short-Lived Joy?The family’s joy was short-lived, however, when a few days later, their oldest daughter was stricken with an unknown illness.
Again, the family called upon Nadia and her missionary colleagues to pray for healing. And once again, God answered their prayers.
Although the family was filled with joy and in awe of God’s power to heal them, Gaurang and his family were still not willing to follow Jesus.
Hearts Changed?Nadia didn’t give up, but continued to pray for and minister to them. Looking back at all Jesus did for them, their hearts were finally melted. Gaurang, his wife, son and two daughters all chose to receive Christ into their lives.
“As a family, we will serve God,” Gaurang declared.
And they all affirmed that they now know Christ is the true God, and they are excited to serve Him.
Today, Gaurang and his family are an active part of a church led by Pastor Sajan, a GFA-supported national missionary. This is the church from where Nadia conducts her ministry.
