If you share my passion for Israel, I invite you to join CUFI today.
These are frightening times for the nation of Israel and those who love it. During the week in which I am writing this, the television has been blaring with news of the terrorist bomber who killed eight Israelis and injured 49 in Tel Aviv.
In April, Iran’s president threatened yet again to destroy Israel, saying, “The Zionist regime is a rotten, dried tree that will be eliminated by one storm.” Iran now has the nuclear capability to carry out his threat.
The terrorist group Hamas—also committed to destroying Israel—has won the Palestinian elections and has taken control of the Palestinian government and security forces. They are only 1,000 yards from the walls of Jerusalem.
Across America, millions of Christians pray for Israel and its people and want to stand with them during these difficult days. Yet when it comes to politics we have been silent in the face of these challenges because we lack the unity and organization to make our voices heard in Washington.
Traditionally Christians have been quiet when it comes to politics. Some even claim to be pacifists.
Yet the fate of the world is in the balance with what is happening in the Middle East. As John Hagee points out in his book, Jerusalem Countdown, which soon will have sold three-quarters of a million copies, we cannot afford to be silent any longer.
Hagee has been one of the boldest voices in the Christian community in the last three decades on the need for Christians to stand with Israel. Last February he called 400 Christian leaders to San Antonio to form Christians United for Israel (CUFI). I had the privilege of working with him to form this organization and have agreed to serve as director for the region covering my home state of Florida, plus Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina.
The goal of CUFI is to organize the millions of Christians who love Israel into a massive grass-roots movement that Washington won’t be able to ignore. Through CUFI, we will generate millions of phone calls and e-mails demanding action for Israel from the administration and congress. And through CUFI we will visit Washington and develop personal relationships with our elected officials that will open doors to us at critical times.
If you share my passion for Israel and the Jewish people and my belief that Israel is America’s first line of defense in the war on terror, I invite you to join me as a member of CUFI. You will receive the following:
If you would like to join me in CUFI’s important work, simply go to the CUFI Web site at www.cufi.org/newsletter_signup.aspx and provide your name and e-mail address as requested. There is no membership fee. The only cost to you will be the time you choose to devote to staying informed, speaking out and being a watchman on the walls of Zion.
The Washington, D.C./Israel Summit, which includes a press conference and congressional meeting, will take place on July 18-19, 2006. Details are available on the CUFI Web site or on our Web site (www.charismamag.com/Israel). Please make plans to attend.
Because of the mounting threats to Israel, we don’t have a minute to waste. Israel is going to need our support in the coming months, and we must do everything we can to make CUFI a major political force before we are called into action.
One of the most important things we can do right now to build CUFI is to grow our membership. There is power in numbers—the more members we have, the more e-mails and phone calls we can generate and the greater our impact.
During these times of trouble, let’s take a stand with Israel. In so doing, we will secure God’s blessing for ourselves and for our nation (see Gen. 12:3).
