Prophet Cindy Jacobs is making news after a video of a prediction she made in 2009 about the Philippines has gone viral following a devastating typhoon battering the nation.
YouTube user VillanuevaBroEddie edited a video of Jacobs prophesying about the Philippines and posted it in March 2009, titled “Prophecy for the Philippines by Cindy Jacobs.” The video originally appeared on CBN’s The 700 Club.
“The next two years, the Lord is showing me, are going to be extremely significant for the Philippines,” Jacobs said. “Either you’re gonna go on to greatness, it’s going to be that transformed nation, or I see that there’s going to be some troubled some times. So pray, pray, pray.”
She adds, “This is a time God is going to pull down the spirit of corruption, and God is going to release the spirit of truth and righteousness into this nation, because righteousness exalts a nation. The Lord has given many promises for the Philippines. I mean, the Philippines is going to be one of the wealthiest nations on the earth. The spirit of poverty will be broken.”
Many have revisited the 4 1/2-year-old video since Typhoon Haiyan destroyed the central Philippines. CNN reported Monday morning the official death toll nationwide is 3,976, with another 1,598 missing. More than 12,000 were injured in the storm.
Next Media Animation (NMA), a Taiwanese animation news company known for its 2009 Tiger Woods coverage, released a video last week questioning Jacobs’ “vague” predictions.
“Granted, the tragic events surrounding the devastation caused by Typhoon Haiyan, which has left more than 2200 people dead, have understandably prompted some serious soul-searching, but folks should be turning to more trustworthy outlets than a false prophet like Cindy Jacobs,” NMA wrote in the video description.
This is not the first time Jacobs, who founded Generals International with her husband, Mike Jacobs, has prophesied about the Philippines. Storm Harvest has a message on its website from August 2003, which leads with the words, “The Lord would say to the Philippines.”
“Do not think I haven’t seen,” Jacobs writes of the Lord’s words to the Philippines in the message. “Do not think I am looking away. Do not think I do not see you, Philippines, for I see you. You are the apple of my eye. You are a treasure unto me.”
She continues, “For I will open up my treasure chest from the Philippines. And I am going to release finance from the Philippines that will surprise and shake even Hong Kong. For I am getting ready to move a distribution of wealth, says God.”
