Atlanta gospel singer K.D. French was at the refrigerator, she tells the Today show, “for the 20th time within an hour” when a melody popped into her head. “I just ran with it,” she says. “There is rhythm in everything we do, I feel.”
French, also a wife and mother of two girls, had no idea at the time that the resultant song and video, The Fridge Again, would garner over 9.5 million views across Facebook and YouTube and splash her face and voice on so many people’s social media accounts. “It just sounds like church, because that’s the foundation,” she tells Today show hosts.
Her church has been supportive of her instant fame, she says, and even played the video for the congregation this past Sunday. “I’m just like, go God,” she says when asked about plans for another YouTube hit. “Wherever He leads, that’s where I’ll follow.”
