Just as the bizarre saga surrounding American Airlines Flight 618 seemed ready for its next courtroom chapter, the timeline shifted again.
Arthur Layne Lundeen, 67, the man accused of attacking bestselling author and Messianic rabbi Jonathan Cahn during the Sept. 3 flight, will no longer appear in court on Oct. 19 as previously scheduled.
According to Newsweek, Lundeen’s court date has been postponed until Nov. 16, delaying the next anticipated development in a case that has already taken one extraordinary turn after another.
The postponement comes on the heels of an even bigger legal development.

As Charisma previously reported, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland announced on Oct. 13 that Lundeen had been federally indicted on charges of interfering with flight crew members and assault. If convicted of the interference charge, he could face up to 20 years in federal prison with a possible 12 extra months for assault charges.
The Flight 618 story exploded into national headlines after Lundeen was restrained with duct tape and zip ties aboard the Dallas-to-Newark flight following the alleged midair confrontation.
Cahn has since described an unsettling encounter involving alleged antisemitic threats and physical aggression.
Yet one of the strangest pieces of the story remains Lundeen’s own response after his arrest: He previously claimed he could not remember what happened aboard the aircraft.
