What would you think if God appeared to you and said, “From now on everything you say about yourself will come to pass”? Well, that’s exactly what God did say in Mark 11:23.
Because of this, I would think everyone should be much more careful about what they say about themselves. The truth of the matter is your life will indeed conform to the words that you speak about yourself.
What kind of life do you want to have and what are you saying about yourself? If you desire to have a good life but are speaking negative words about yourself, you are going to be very disappointed.
Have you ever noticed that people who are living a hard life are usually saying negative things about themselves? Might there be a connection between their words and their life? Unfortunately, very few people realize that their lives are shaped and controlled by the words they speak about themselves.
Everything you say about yourself, both good and bad, is a form of binding and loosing. According to Matthew 16:19, God will bind from Heaven what you bind on earth and loose from Heaven what you loose from earth. Because of God’s laws of spiritual authority, this mainly applies to what you say about yourself, or anybody under your spiritual authority, such as your family and your children. A very simple explanation is: everything you say about yourself, God will say about you from Heaven.
The Bible tells us that our tongue is like a rudder on a ship, and we can use it to turn our life around. That is why God’s method of changing things is to call things that be not as though they were. (Romans 4:17) Abraham, at the age of 100, and his wife, at the age of 90, were able to conceive and have a child because God changed his name from Abram to Abraham, which means “Father of many people,” even though they did not yet have a child together. In only 90 days, Abraham, at the age of 100, and his wife, at the age of 90, were able to conceive because he continuously called himself “Father of many people.”
Your life over time will conform to the words you speak about yourself on a continual basis. This is true of everybody, Christians and non-Christians alike, no exceptions. The real secret is to make sure that you speak only positive words about yourself and eliminate the negative words.
Words have an incredible ability to help or hinder, to bless or curse, to cause sickness or health, or to bring poverty or wealth to any person.
Changing the words that you say about yourself from negative to positive is a process, but over time will result in you living your life on a level you only dreamed about.
The words you say about yourself work for you or against you. This is so simple. Make your words work for you, instead of against you by changing the words you are speaking about yourself. Your tongue could be your best friend or your worst enemy.
Decide what words you’re going to speak in any given conversation or situation. Everything will soon be under control and eventually have a good outcome. Try saying “Everything always works out for me” ten times a day for 90 days and watch what happens. Everything will work out for you, no matter what the circumstances happen to be.
Speaking God’s word over your situation and using scriptures to call things that be not as though they are will change things for the better and sometimes very quickly.
For Example:
If you’re struggling to make ends meet, say, “My God shall supply all my needs according to his riches and glory by Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19).
If you are weak physically and have trouble getting around, speak this over yourself: “I am strong and getting stronger every day” (Joel 3:10).
If you are sick, say, “I am healed by the stripes of Jesus” (1 Peter 2:24).
If you are afraid, say, “God has not given me a spirit of fear, but of love and power and a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7).
If something seems hard for you to do, say this: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13).
Fourteen years ago, we embarked on a program of watching our words. When we had gotten to the point where we had not cursed ourselves or said anything bad about ourselves for three months, everything changed. We were able to pay our bills with money left over and have never struggled financially since that time. It worked for us, and it will work for you. God’s Word works!
