Children’s entertainer Ms. Rachel is stepping further into the political arena, this time by sharing a message advocating for reparations tied to America’s history of slavery and racial discrimination.
Ms. Rachel, whose real name is Rachel Accurso, shared an excerpt from author Ta-Nehisi Coates’ influential 2014 essay, “The Case for Reparations,” with her millions of Instagram followers, according to Breitbart News.
The passage shared by Accurso pointed to generations of slavery, Jim Crow laws, segregation and discriminatory housing policies before arguing that America must confront its accumulated “moral debts” to become whole.
“Two hundred fifty years of slavery. Ninety years of Jim Crow. Sixty years of separate but equal. Thirty-five years of racist housing policy. Until we reckon with our compounding moral debts, America will never be whole,” the post read, quoting Coates.

Known to millions of families simply as “Ms. Rachel,” Accurso built her enormous following through educational videos designed primarily for babies, toddlers and preschoolers. Her “Songs for Littles” content propelled her to online fame, while her programming has expanded beyond YouTube to Netflix.
Now, the trusted children’s entertainer has increasingly used that massive platform to weigh in on some of the most divisive political and cultural issues facing America.
According to Fox News, Accurso endorsed a dozen Democratic political candidates last month, including former Missouri Rep. Cori Bush and Michigan U.S. Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed.
Accurso has also become outspoken on immigration and the Israel-Hamas war, further expanding her public identity beyond the children’s educational programming that originally made her famous.
That transformation raises a larger cultural question for Christian parents.
Children’s entertainers have always held an unusual position of trust. Parents invite these personalities into their homes, often placing them before their youngest and most impressionable children. When those same personalities begin attaching themselves to controversial and unbiblical policies, parents have every reason to pay attention.
Discernment cannot stop simply because the content on the screen carries an educational label.
Scripture instructs parents to diligently teach their children the ways of God and remain intentional about what shapes their hearts and minds. In an age when entertainment, education and politics increasingly overlap, that responsibility is becoming more important than ever.
