For Harvey Katz, one conversation about eternity forever changed the direction of his life. Decades later, he says another conversation ended with something he still describes as one of the most remarkable miracles he has ever witnessed.
Appearing on Sid Roth’s It’s Supernatural!, Katz—a Jewish believer in Jesus—shared his testimony of coming to faith and the extraordinary healing he says followed when a longtime Jewish friend surrendered his life to Christ.
Raised in a deeply Jewish family, Katz says his identity was shaped by the legacy of the Holocaust. His father survived Nazi work and concentration camps before immigrating to Canada, and those experiences left an indelible mark on their home.
“I loved my Jewishness,” Katz said. “I still do.”
But after his bar mitzvah, deeper questions began to surface.
Concerned about sin, eternity and whether anyone could truly know God, Katz says he encountered a Christian friend who challenged everything he believed about salvation.
The turning point came when the friend explained that no amount of good works could erase sin.
“The law did what it was meant to do,” Katz said. “It’s not meant to save us. It’s meant to show us that we’re sinners.”
As the conversation continued, Katz said he realized Jesus was not simply the Savior of Gentiles—as he had previously believed—but the promised Jewish Messiah who fulfilled the Old Testament sacrificial system.
He accepted Christ that night.
Rather than describing only an intellectual decision, Katz says the weeks that followed were marked by overwhelming encounters with God’s love.
“I literally had what I would only call visitations,” he said, describing a profound awareness of the Holy Spirit’s presence.
Years later, Katz says those experiences shaped how he approached evangelism.
Instead of debating people, he focused on building authentic relationships.

That philosophy was put to the test when he met “Howie,” a Jewish man who cleaned his saltwater fish tank.
Their first meeting took an unexpected turn when Howie declared he couldn’t stand “Jews for Jesus.”
Rather than responding immediately, Katz says he sensed the Holy Spirit telling him to wait.
For the next three years, the two simply became friends.
Eventually, after learning more about Howie’s personal struggles—including severe diabetes and cataracts that reportedly prevented corrective surgery—Katz believed the moment had come to share his faith.
He invited Howie to receive Jesus but emphasized there would be no pressure.
“I love you whether you believe what I believe or not,” Katz recalled telling him.
To Katz’s surprise, Howie agreed.
According to Katz, immediately after praying to receive Christ, the man’s cataracts disappeared.
“When he opened his eyes, the cataracts were gone,” Katz said during the interview.
Whether through a miraculous healing or a simple conversation over coffee, Katz believes the greatest testimony is still the transforming power of the gospel.
His encouragement to believers is to stop viewing evangelism as winning arguments and instead become what he calls a “God magnet”—someone whose life consistently points others to Jesus.
As Katz reminded viewers, it is ultimately Christ—not persuasive words—who draws people to Himself.
