A highlighted archaeological discovery in Megiddo is drawing global attention for what it reveals about the earliest Christians—and what they believed about Jesus.
According to a report from Daily Mail, researchers uncovered a third-century mosaic bearing a striking inscription that refers to Jesus as God, offering rare physical evidence of early Christian worship and theology.
A Message Set in Stone
At the heart of the discovery is a Greek inscription embedded in the mosaic that includes a reference to Jesus, stating, “The god-loving Akeptous has offered the table to God Jesus Christ as a memorial.”
The inscription is considered one of the earliest known archaeological examples explicitly identifying Jesus as God.
The mosaic was found at a site believed to have served as a Christian gathering place or prayer hall. The location is thought to represent one of the earliest known spaces used for organized Christian worship.

The inscription includes the name of a woman, Akeptous, who is credited with giving a table to the prayer location. Other women are also named on the inscription, including “Primilla and Cyriaca and Dorothea and lastly, Chreste.”
Other names also appear, pointing to a broader network of believers who contributed to the space. Together, they reflect a growing and organized movement rooted in shared conviction.
A Timeless Declaration
What was once laid in stone nearly two millennia ago is now speaking again with clarity and conviction.
Long before councils, creeds or institutions, there were believers who declared without hesitation who Jesus was. They didn’t debate His identity—they built their lives around it.
In a generation searching for truth and stability, this discovery stands as a reminder that the foundation of the Christian faith has never been uncertain. The same declaration that was written into that ancient mosaic still echoes today: Jesus is God.
The question now is not what the early church believed—but whether believers today will hold to that same unshakable truth.
