A wave of controversy is sweeping across social media following the latest Olympic opening ceremony as the event featured occult imagery.

In a recent reaction video, Benny Johnson shared images of the ceremony’s centerpiece — a fiery, glowing monument-like structure which unmistakably was a pentagram inside of a fiery ball. “This is like a complete and total ritual, isn’t it?” he said. “Look, you can even see like the pentagram there inside of whatever the fireball is.”

Social media reaction was swift and intense, with some users claiming the imagery felt intentionally provocative. The controversy also reignited memories of the 2024 Paris Olympic ceremony, which sparked global backlash after featuring a blasphemous depiction of drag queens imitating the Last Supper painting.

“Fellow Christians, can you please join me in a complete and total boycott of the blasphemous, sickening satanic cult ritual known as the Olympics? Jesus Christ will not be mocked,” Johnson said.

He pointed to this mockery of Jesus during that earlier ceremony. “What were we talking about then? … this very sick scene where they mocked the Last Supper painting of Christ,” he said, also referencing what he described as “occult ritual style practices.”

Now, Johnson and others online are noticing that this latest ceremony feels like a continuation of the same trend. “At least people have their sensitivities up,” he said. “At least people have their spirits high on this stuff.”

In a culture that increasingly blurs the line between light and darkness, believers must be more discerning than ever. Scripture calls us to have nothing to do with the fruitless works of darkness, but instead to expose them—and that begins with guarding what we watch, celebrate and entertain. If something even remotely mirrors darkness, glorifies evil or mocks what is holy, it is not worth compromising your spirit over.

Now is the time for Christians to stand firm, pursue what is pure and fix our eyes on Jesus, choosing light in a world that is growing increasingly comfortable with the shadows.
