Following his retirement from ministry with The Potter’s House, T.D. Jakes has launched a new podcast in partnership with iHeart Radio. In the first episode of this new venture, Jakes interviewed talk show host Oprah Winfrey.

“I have such regard for what you have been able to accomplish, not just creating for yourself, but planting that good soil into the hearts and spirits of people all over this world,” Winfrey said of Jakes.
Winfrey started by sharing about her days of being raised in the church and said, “I will tell you that I have been God-led, spirit-led from the beginning, and every decision I have ever made that has led to any kind of success whatsoever, has come from sitting with the spirit and asking God, ‘What would you have me do first?'”
The two later pivoted in their conversation, with Jakes discussing AI and how people are unlikely to be prepared for the job losses that will result from it. He also pointed out that people will need to pivot next based on what we are seeing in these changing times.
“They’re going to lose their jobs at a time,” says Jakes. “I’m concerned that inflation is squeezing us…there are strategies that would avert this and make this work well… You can’t use an old method against a new devil.”
Winfrey, however, noted that she does not believe speaking up against AI is going to do much of anything. “I think AI is is going to be as prevalent as you know, the automobiles…it’s not just ‘is it coming?’ It is here.”
The two then discussed how AI and our current era are connected to the spiritual realm.
“I firmly believe that in times like these, it is necessary, it is essential, it is vital to get as close to God as you can,” Winfrey said. “I think that the spiritual root…defines and upholds itself for all things.”

Whether discussing the rapid rise of AI or the personal convictions that guide their lives, the two emphasized the importance of discernment, adaptability and maintaining a strong foundation of faith in uncertain times.
