“Today we’re here to honor… a fearless leader,” Trump said, calling Kirk an American patriot.
Discussing Kirk’s assassination, Trump said, “It was a horrible, heinous, demonic act of murder.”
Speaking to Erika Kirk, Trump noted the great love that Charlie had for his wife. “Erika, your love and courage have been an inspiration to all of us,” he said, promising that America would always be there for her and her children.
“Charles James Kirk was a visionary,” Trump noted, recounting how Kirk started Turning Point USA humbly with its great explosion of growth taking place after Kirk’s death. He then called Charlie a “true evangelist for freedom,” who had a heart for the “Almighty God.”
The president pointed out that Kirk held dearly onto his Judeo-Christian values and stood up for his faith. Now, Kirk rests in the: “glory of our Savior,” as Trump said before calling him a martyr for the principles of truth and freedom. On the opposite hand, the president said that the left is now steeped in “the devil’s ideology.”
President Trump noted that in honor of Charlie, it is now our turn to continue fighting for the freedom of our nation. On Charlie’s behalf, his wife, Erika, received the medal before delivering her own remarks.
“Thank you for loving us and for praying for us,” Erika Kirk stated. She then noted that the growing chapters of Turning Point USA are the heart that will continue to keep Charlie’s memory alive.

Turning to the value of freedom that her husband loved, Erika Kirk said, “The blessings of liberty are not man’s invention but God’s endowment.” As Erika described, Charlie believed that, “The freest people in the world are those whose hearts belong to Christ.” This, according to Erika Kirk, is exactly who her husband is today. “Now he wears the crown of a righteous martyr…heaven gained what earth could no longer contain.”
As America reflects on the life and legacy of Charlie Kirk, his courage, conviction and unwavering faith continue to inspire a generation to stand for truth and freedom. Though his earthly mission has ended, his voice still echoes through the movement he built and the lives he touched
As Erika Kirk put it, “To live free is the greatest gift. But to die free is the greatest victory.”
