After winning the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize, Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado has publicly dedicated her win to Donald Trump.

On X, Machado wrote:
This recognition of the struggle of all Venezuelans is a boost to conclude our task: to conquer Freedom.
We are on the threshold of victory and today, more than ever, we count on President Trump, the people of the United States, the peoples of Latin America, and the democratic nations of the world as our principal allies to achieve Freedom and democracy.
I dedicate this prize to the suffering people of Venezuela and to President Trump for his decisive support of our cause!

In her official statement Machado also wrote that, “We Venezuelans have suffered 26 years of violence and humiliation at the hands of a tyranny obsessed with subjugating citizens and crushing the nation’s spirit. The machinery of oppression has been brutal and systemic, marked by detentions, torture, forced disappearances, and extrajudicial executions, all of which constitute Crimes Against Humanity and State terrorism.”

For Machado, her acceptance of the Nobel Peace Prize shows that “…we are very close to achieving our goal…It is a firm call for the transition to democracy in Venezuela to be realized immediately…”
