A War Older Than Time Itself

“You think you understand the war between Israel and Hamas,” one reviewer wrote, “but after watching The Dragon’s Prophecy, you probably don’t.”

That single line captures the thunderous impact of Dinesh D’Souza’s newest documentary based on Jonathan Cahn’s #1 New York Times best-selling book The Dragon’s Prophecy. This film is not just another political documentary. It is a revelation. D’Souza takes audiences beyond the smoke of modern warfare to expose the spiritual war raging behind it all, a war between God and the dragon, between light and darkness, and for the souls of humanity.

As Cahn and D’Souza make clear, this battle did not begin on Oct. 7, 2023. “It is a war far more ancient,” D’Souza declares through the film’s powerful narration. “First and foremost, this is a war between God and Lucifer, and Hamas is just a part of it.”

A Film That Forces You to Look Evil in the Eye

From the first frames, The Dragon’s Prophecy refuses to look away from horror. The film opens with haunting real footage of Hamas’ Oct. 7 attacks, footage so graphic that one reviewer compared it to the first 15 minutes of Saving Private Ryan.

But as Twitchy.com noted, D’Souza’s purpose is not shock value. It is truth.

“We need to see what happened to understand the stakes of Israel’s fight.”

Those stakes are eternal. Survivors like Rafaela Treistman, who lost her boyfriend at the Nova Music Festival, recount the terror in trembling voices as the camera pans across the memorials of the slain. Another survivor remembers simply, “All this was blood.”

D’Souza uses these moments to paint a chilling reality. The brutality of Oct. 7 was not a random act of terrorism, but the manifestation of the dragon’s hatred against God’s chosen people.

Prophecy, History and Proof

Interwoven with these emotional scenes is a masterful thread of biblical archaeology and prophetic insight.

D’Souza and Cahn take audiences from the ancient ruins of Shiloh and Megiddo to the City of David and Pilgrimage Road in Jerusalem. With experts like Eric Metaxas and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the film demolishes the modern narrative that Israel is a “colonizing” power.

As D’Souza explains in one of the film’s defining moments:

“Biblical archaeology is confirmation of the ancient presence of the Jews in Israel. Far from being colonizers, the Jews are the original and indigenous inhabitants of the region.”

Cahn builds upon that revelation:

“The nation of Israel is a resurrected nation.”

Together they unveil the deep prophetic truth that the modern state of Israel fulfills ancient promises written thousands of years ago in the pages of Scripture.

Exposing the Lie

Throughout the documentary, D’Souza confronts the lies being spread across campuses and media outlets around the world that Jews “stole” the land, that Israel is to blame for the violence or that Hamas represents a legitimate cause.

Netanyahu’s words cut through the noise:

“This has been our land for 3,500 years since Abraham came here. It’s not the Jews who colonized the area from the Arabs, it’s the Arabs who colonized the area from the Jews.”

U.S. Ambassador Mike Huckabee adds, “Every time Israel wins the war, the world responds: ‘Israel needs to give up land to the people that tried to kill Israel.’”

The film powerfully illustrates that this hatred of Israel is not political. It is spiritual, and antisemitism is, in the words of Erick Stakelbeck, “a demonic spiritual driver fueled by envy; the devil hates the Jewish people.”

A Call to Spiritual Warfare

As the credits near, the movie’s message crescendos into a prophetic challenge. D’Souza and Cahn remind viewers that the dragon’s war against Israel is also a war against the church and the moral foundations of Western civilization.

Cahn drives home the parallel between the Philistines and today’s Palestinians, even noting that the word Hamas in Hebrew literally means violence and destruction. He explains that the demonic forces driving the ancient enemies of Israel are the same forces behind today’s global hatred for the Jewish people.

Then comes the final question, the challenge D’Souza leaves echoing in the theater long after the screen fades to black:

“Will we don the spiritual armor of God and become dragonslayers?”
