Since the passing of Dodie Osteen, heartfelt prayers and condolences have been poured out from people across the nation for the Osteen family. Now, Joel Osteen, leader of Lakewood Church, has made a statement regarding his mother’s passing.
In a video posted to X, Osteen thanked everyone who has shown love and support for his family during this time.

“I wanted to thank you so much for all the condolences and the kind words on my mom’s passing,” Osteen says. “We just celebrate the beautiful life that she lived, 91, almost 92 years. [We] just feel such a peace. Of course we miss her and it’s hard, but man, we have the hope of heaven.”
Osteen also noted that Dodie’s celebration of life ceremony will happen on Friday, August 8 at 7 p.m. Central Time.
“We’ll do a formal celebration of my mom’s life on August the 8, on a Friday night coming up,” says Osteen.

In his Sunday sermon about the lessons he learned from his mother, Osteen discussed how Dodie always prayed about everything which led to an abundance of miracles taking place in her life.
The thing about my mother is she would pray for anything. If the dishwasher didn’t work, ‘I command you dishwasher in the name of Jesus, start working.’ I’d say, ‘Mother, it’s a dishwasher. Let’s call a technician.’ How many times did I see things happen that I could not explain?
Osteen pointed out that Dodie lived by the principle: “…you have not because you ask not.”

Dodie’s life was a beacon to Joel that we can trust in the promises of God, and He will do what He said He would.
“What I learned from my mother was to hold on to the promises God put in your heart,” Osteen wrote on X. “To keep believing even when people try to talk you out of it. To put actions behind your faith. Let God see you out there making plans for what He promised you.”

Above all, Joel wants his mother’s legacy to be an inspiration to others to trust God, pray boldly and live for Christ.

Dodie Osteen lived a life of miracles, faith and expectancy from God. As a result, many were touched by her example, also believing that the Holy Spirit could use all of their situations for good.

My late wife Mary Vance was sick with bartholin gland me static cancer. We went to Lakewood church where Dodie Osteen prayed for her. As time went by Dodie would call our house and ask for Mary. Dodie would always pray for her.
Eventually the cancer spread through out her body. I was told she would be dead in eight hours. However it took three days before she died. Lakewood church sent a man there to pray for a miracle.
As the minutes went by the Dr increased the dosage to allow her to die and not suffer anymore.
Family and friends showed up to honor her. This was
the hardest thing I along with my 2 sons had to incur.
My sweet wife and I had been married for 30 years just two months short of 31 years.
The funeral home was packed with family and friends who came to show their love and support.
I miss her every day. I can’t wait to see her again when Jesus takes me home.
