Dennis Funderburg believes there’s a reason Satan attacks the church. He says, “You can’t steal something that doesn’t have value. You can’t kill something that is dead, and you can’t destroy something that hasn’t been established.” Has your faith been established, or is it lying dormant? Do you know that your faith has value? If so, the devil is coming after you. But take heart, on this episode of Jesus Is Still Jesus on the Charisma Podcast Network, Dennis Funderburg shares strategies to fight against the enemy’s attacks.
Funderburg says the first thing we must understand is that the devil “doesn’t attack you because you’re weak. He attacks you because you are a threat.” But, “as long as we pick up the weapons of our warfare, as long as we have the full armor of God, he can not bring destruction onto us,” he says.
Funderburg shares key lessons from when Jesus was tempted in the desert for 40 days and nights. He says, “When the devil tempted Jesus, he did it when Jesus was alone, tired, hungry and thirsty. But the thing was, Jesus knew His identity. He knew His promises, and He knew His destiny. And that’s how He overcame it.”
Funderburg says we have to understand that our calling is always greater than the warfare. “Yeah, the warfare may be bigger than you, but it’s not bigger than your calling. Yeah, the warfare may be bigger than you, but it’s not bigger than Jesus,” he says. “The warfare is a stepping stool to obtain the breakthrough into the next place God has called you to.”
