Lombardo recalls seeing a picture online of Jesus kneeling down in front of a little girl who had a small bear clutched behind her back. And the little girl was weeping over it. But she had no clue that behind his back, there was an even larger teddy bear that he was going to bless her with.
He goes on to comment, “She would gladly give the teddy bear if she knew what was behind His back.” Lombardo draws a spiritual parallel with this sweet photo and the reality we may find ourselves in. He says, “the only reason the Lord would ask you for something temporal, something natural, is because He wants to give you something eternal.”
When we try to rely only on what we can see, or what we know we have, we may miss out on the ways God is trying to reveal Himself to us. “I’ve tried to muster up these things and try to operate in these things on my own power and ability,” Lombardo recalls. “And I realized that I can’t do a thing. It says in John 15, Jesus says, ‘Apart from Me, you can do nothing.’ … I’m completely reliant and dependent on the Holy Spirit.”
