Fox’s Interview with the Forgotten Christian Candidate

In the last presidential primary, he won 11 primaries. Now, he’s in 12th place.

Rick Santorum, the former U.S. senator and runner-up to Mitt Romney for the GOP nomination, was on Fox News earlier this week to face the “all star” panel of Bret Baier, Steve Hayes, Juan Williams, and Charles Krauthammer.

Usually, the runner-up starts with a massive lead in the next primary: see Romney in 2012, McCain in 2008, Dole in 1996, or Reagan in 1980. This time, Santorum is essentially a forgotten candidate.

That’s too bad because, as the clip shows, he has real substance to go with his rhetoric and evident faith.

Santorum discussed immigration, the Iran deal, and numerous vital issues facing the nation.

But I really appreciated his opening segment, when he urged Republicans not to trash one another in the media over every stray comment, saying he didn’t want to be “part of the food fight.”

In light of recent personal attacks—by Donald Trump against Carly Fiorina, by Bobby Jindal and Ben Carson against Trump—it’s clear that in at least one category Santorum shows true leadership.
