Have you ever been so broken that you felt all alone? This was the situation Serena found herself in when she was at the lowest point in her life by drinking alcohol, abusing prescription medications and was going to divorce her husband. No one would help her.
Serena suffered a sexual assault when she was thirteen years old and became pregnant. When taken to the doctor, they told her the only option was abortion. Her parents, thinking they were helping her, took her to Planned Parenthood. She was separated from them and they could hear her calling out for help, but the staff would not allow them to come to her aid. This horrible experience only compounded the trauma of the rape. Serena shares, “My father carried me out over his shoulder and we just wanted to forget what happened.”
Although the family never spoke of it, it was slowly draining the life from her. It wasn’t until later in life when Serena had a miscarriage that she fell apart. “I was self-destructing and no one would come to my rescue.” The lies the enemy spoke early in her life held her bondage.
However, it was at her deepest, darkest point that the Lord met her. God lavished His love upon her and nailed to the cross all her sins and shame. “It wasn’t until I surrendered the pain to Jesus that healing began. I was done drinking the poison of unforgiveness.” Healing is a choice.
Listen to Serena’s story of transformation. She views abortion as a mission field and reaches men and women all over the world.
