Country singer Mallary Hope has faced many moments of opposition, but on the “C-Pop” podcast, she recalls one particular moment of spiritual warfare against her music.
Hope gets vulnerable in her new album, Out of My Hands. And she tells “C-Pop” host Jessilyn Lancaster that Satan did everything he could to keep her from writing the song “Walking With the Light.”
The opposition began while on her way to her co-writer’s house. She had been writing the chorus to “Walking With the Light” while driving and was excited to work on it with her colleague.
“I was running a little bit late that day,” she says. “And I got to my co-writer’s house—and he lives on a hill. So I parked my jeep up on the hill, not realizing that it was on E, almost out of gas. All the sudden, my jeep started shaking and then died. … And it just felt that Satan was doing everything he could that day to keep me from getting to my co-writer’s house.”
When Hope finally arrived at her destination, she and her co-writer were able to quickly finish the song.
“I can see how Satan was trying to keep that song from being written,” she says.
