One Sunday, when I was preaching, the Holy Spirit said to me that we are in a day of deliverance and freedom by the finger of God. I then recalled how Jesus said, “If I cast out demons by the finger of God, then the kingdom has come near to you” (Luke 11:20, NASB1995). And then I remembered when the finger of God wrote on the wall of the evil king, Belshazzar, in the days of Daniel. The Lord made it clear that this king had been weighed in the balances of justice and came up lacking (Dan. 5:5).
Suddenly, I felt the anointing come upon me in a strong way and as I looked around the congregation, I saw a demon sitting on the back of a man’s neck and holding onto him tightly. Immediately, I knew this spirit had been traveling with this man and his family for a long time. When I took authority over it, the demon immediately let go and, at the same exact time, that man threw his head back and lifted his hands in praise, tears streaming down his face with relief. He received a significant physical and emotional healing that night from a spirit of infirmity. Ever since that Sunday, I have been having similar experiences in every service where I minister. The Lord is setting people free!
There is a darkness that has been prevailing in the earth that is becoming what Isaiah called “deep darkness.” The word “darkness” means misery, destruction, death, ignorance, sorrow, wickedness and obscurity. There has been a war against the Light since the beginning of time. Do you remember that the earth was “formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters. Then God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light'” (Gen. 1:2-3).
We know that the light God sent against that darkness was not sunlight since the sun was not created until the 4th day. This light was the glory of God! Isaiah declared that there would be another day of darkness that would cover the earth but there would be the glory of the Lord rising upon God’s people. This is how the “earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea” (Hab. 2:14).
The Bible says, “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil; who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness; who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter” (Isa. 5:20). This definitely describes the world in which we are living. There has never been such a day in our nation when an employer could force employees to take a medication or lose their jobs. There has never been a day when churches were forced to close their doors and be considered as “non-essential” while the bars could remain open. There has never been a day that full-term babies could be ripped from the wombs of their mothers for the sake of convenience. There has never been a day when the schools were required to teach the students that same-sex marriage is a normal family unit.
Today we must learn the appropriate pronouns to call a person based on his or her “preferred” gender instead of referring to the person as the gender that he or she actually is. Lies and deception, chaos and misery, evil and wickedness — DARKNESS! We are called to gloriously shine and reap the greatest harvest of all time! And we are called to give the message of repentance, heal the sick and cast out demons when we preach the gospel of the kingdom of God. This is the finger of God moving through His church today to set captives free and to deal with the injustices and bondages of darkness.
Like the children of Israel, we will travel through this era following the “Fire by Night.” It was the pillar of fire that came between the Egyptians and Israel at the Red Sea. The glory hides us, protects us and covers us in this dark hour, as well as it guides us to the Promised Land. We are a glory remnant. And we are rising to shine in the church’s finest hour. Fear not! “A fire goes before Him and burns up His enemies all around. His lightening bolts light up the world — the earth sees and shakes. The mountains melt like wax at the presence of the Lord. At the presence of the Lord of the earth” (97:3-5, MEV). {eoa}
