The storms of life beg us to focus on the seemingly overwhelming struggle that engulfs our thoughts, lives and actions. The onslaught of storms is out of our control and must be endured and overcome.
I’ve noticed two types of people in a storm. The first is the person who endures by letting the storm beat them up and learns nothing. The second person endures by knowing that storms will come, so they prepare for it, read the weather and look for land.
Many people choose to “go with the flow” of life and do not prepare and equip themselves for the storms that come. These individuals are always defeated, throw the biggest pity parties and complain about their circumstances rather than being proactive in their preparation and pursuit of land.
As Christ-followers, we are called to be overcomers. This does not mean that we won’t go through trials and tribulations in this life, but it does mean that these things will not capsize our faith, stance or belief in our authority in Christ. Storms should solidify our Christian faith, not capsize it.
