How You Can Recognize and Overcome Spiritual Attack

There is a battle going on spiritually over you, and sometimes God makes you aware of the battle so that you can press through, make some changes, identify or discern some things or remove some things from your life. Awareness of spiritual warfare is a gift that shouldn’t be “on” all the time, but when you feel the battle, you have some empowered choices to make, and there are Scriptures that can help you.

It starts with having the overcomer’s mindset: that no weapon formed against you will prosper. It will form, but it won’t prosper.

“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, neither angels nor principalities nor powers, neither things present nor things to come,  neither height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Rom. 8:37-39).

2 Warnings

The first is being overly spiritual-warfare minded, suggesting a heightened sensitivity to the presence of demons and the need for constant vigilance.

The second is being oblivious to the battle and taking a more passive stance. This causes us to not actively engage in spiritual warfare or be concerned about demonic influences in our daily lives. Here are some points with Scriptures to help you if you are facing spiritual warfare.

1. Awareness of the Battle:

— Acknowledge the existence of spiritual warfare.

— Recognize that God may make you aware of the battle for a purpose: to empower you to make choices and discern the spiritual realm.

2. Overcomer’s Mindset:

— Adopt the mindset that no weapon formed against you will prosper.

— Reference Romans 8:37-39, emphasizing that nothing can separate believers from the love of God.

3. Types of Battles:

— Relational battles involving slander, accusation and misunderstanding.

— Resource battles, such as financial difficulties and loss.

— Process battles, where everything becomes harder and more challenging.

4. Identification of Battles:

— Use John 16:33 as a reminder that troubles will come, but Jesus has overcome the world.

— Exercise discernment to identify battles, recognizing the enemy’s tactics.

5. Discernment:

— Be alert and of sober mind (1 Pet. 5:8-9).

— Recognize that believers worldwide undergo similar sufferings.

6. Dreams and Spiritual Experiences:

— Pay attention to dreams and spiritual experiences for potential insights into upcoming battles.

— Share these experiences with prayer warriors for guidance and support.

7. How to Fight:

— Engage in sincere and powerful prayers (2 Cor. 10:4-5).

— Submit to God, resist the devil and he will flee (James 4:7).

— Put on the full armor of God to stand against the devil’s schemes (Eph. 6:10-11).

8. Assurance and Faith:

— Trust in the Lord’s faithfulness (2 Thess. 3:3).

— Remember that God provides a way out when facing temptation (1 Cor. 10:13).

The provided Scriptures emphasize the importance of our faith, prayer, discernment and reliance on God’s strength in the face of spiritual battles. It encourages us to stay vigilant, trust in God’s promises and actively engage in spiritual warfare with the tools provided in the Scriptures.
